Grade 9 Take Our Kids to Work Day
Wednesday, November 5th is Take Our Kids to Work Day—a national program that has Grade 9 students across the country going to worksites to job shadow for a day to experience the world of work in order to explore future career possibilities, understand the importance of education and gain some appreciation for what their parents do at their jobs. Typically, students go along with their parents to their worksites, but if that’s not possible, students are encouraged to tag along with other suitable adults (aunts, uncles, family friends, cousins etc.). The Surrey School District has a long tradition of participating in this program and we are hoping to get as many of our Grade 9 students out as possible. It is not often that kids are welcome into workplaces, so this is a unique opportunity. Some larger employers/organizations even plan special programming for the visiting students on this day!
There is a national live virtual event with ongoing presentations that students can watch and learn from as well.

A reminder for students to ensure your permission form have been completed and dropped off at the Career Centre.
